Hi! Greetings from India! I plan on visiting Japan from 1st to 15th May 2016, I want to buy the 14 day JR pass. I land in Tokyo on 1st May, and I want to be in Hokkaido by 4th May to catch the cherry blossoms (I am guessing I can take the new Hokkaido Shinkansen using the JR pass), after Hokkaido, I want to visit both Kyoto and Mount Fuji before getting back to Tokyo. What route do you suggest I take so that I will be able to use the JR pass most effectively and in the least amount of time? Should I go to Kyoto from Hokkaido and then to Mt.Fuji? Please help me out. Thank you very much!
Tokyo-Hokkaido-Kyoto-Mt.Fuji-Tokyo

Hello there,
Fuji is on the route between Tokyo and Kyoto, so you could either visit it on the way down to Kyoto or back to Tokyo. Both would work.
For the best routes, have a look at our http://www.jrpass.com/map and follow the blue lines, these are the Shinkansen lines and you can use them directly from Hakodate to Tokyo and Kyoto, note that the map has not been updated with the Hokkaido shinkansen between Hakodate and Shin-Aomori.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel-san, I will check out the routes. Also, after I purchase the JR pass-do I need to make reservations? How do I do that?
Will the route-map be updated post March 26th-after the launch of the Hokkaido Shinkansen so that I will be able to see the route between Hakodate and Shin-Amori?
This is very helpful, I am looking forward to visiting Japan! :)
Hi again,
Here is how to make seat reservations:

We have an update planned for the map but I don't know yet when this will be ready.
Enjoy your stay in Japan!
Daniel

Thank you very much Daniel San :)
