I have used JRPass on my last 3 visits to Japan.
please advise if I should buy a JRPass:
11/14 Haneda to Tokyo Station
11/15 Tokyo Station to Takayama Station
11/16 Takayama
11/17 Takayama to ?
11/18 -19 ?
11/19 back to Tokyo and stay in Ueno, visit the local areas Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ghibli Museum, Disneyland, Asakusa
11/25 Ueno to Hakone
11/26 Hakone to Ueno
11/27 Ueno to Haneda Airport
11/15 - 11/19 we dont have plans but want to see quiet old Japan and think Takayama area is interesting. Do you have recommendation?
Should I buy JR Pass for this trip?

Hi there,

With a couple of ? marks in here, it does make it harder to say for sure. Then again, a return Tokyo - Takayama already is more than the price of a 7day pass.

There are plenty of interesting places to visit near Takayama, a very popular (half) day trip is Shirakawago, Gokayama, Kamikochi (tip!) and Kanazawa.

You could spend a couple of days there without being bored at all. If you don't mind a bit of extra travel on the way back, then you could make a visit at Matsumoto too.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
