Hi,

I'm planning to travel to Japan this September, need some help as to what transport tickets i should be getting!

Will be there for two weeks only. 5 days at Tokyo, 5 days Kyoto, 2 days Nara, 2 day Tokyo

Narita Airport to Tokyo
Tokyo to Kyoto
Kyoto to Nara
Nara to Tokyo
Tokyo to Narita Airport

When i'm at the cities/town, can i still be using the same pass to get around? Is there any pass to get be able to get around and between cities....I'm awfully confused.

Hi Anna!

I would certainly recommand going for a 7 day JR Pass if you can use it to travel from Tokyo - Kyoto - Nara - and back to Tokyo. This way you would be sure to make some nice savings and also to have all your travel covered in this period. You can also use the JR Pass to make local trips around Kyoto, to places such as Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama but also for to trips for places such as Osaka and Kobe.

There are no trains within the City of Kyoto but you use buses going everywhere and can buy an all day bus pass for just 500Yen!.

As for Tokyo, here is a list of usefully tickets that you can use. My favorite is the all day metro pass which is just 710 Yen.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
