Hello everyone,

I am thinking of using JRPass but I don´t know if I will be saving, or if I should be using another pass. I will be in Japan from January 12 through January 22. I plan on doing these train trips the fastest way so I dont lose time for sightseeing. My itinerary is:

Arrive at Narita
12-15 Ueno Tokyo
15-17 Osaka
17-19 Kyoto
19-21 Kawaguchiko (to see Mount Fuji and maybe Fuji Q if its open)
21-22 Roppongi
Depart at Narita

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

The cost of a 7-day pass is similar to the cost of a return Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka. From there any further travel is where savings are to be made. That said, I see you travel to Kawaguchiko on the way back and depending on the route taken, a JR Pass may not help you here.

My advice would be to decide on your mode of transport first, then see if you can make savings using the pass. You can check with ourJR Fare calculator.

Hope you find this useful,
Daniel
