Hi, my wife, daughter and I will be heading to Japan at the end of September . I've been trying to do research and have been contemplating whether to purchase the JR rail pass or not.
Below is our itinerary:
Sept 25::Arrive @ Kansai International Airport
Sept 26-30:TRAVEL within the Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto)
Oct 1:TRAVEL from Kyoto to Tokyo
Oct 2-6:TRAVEL within the Tokyo area
Oct7-8:Travel from Tokyo to Shimoda on the Izu Peninsula
Oct9 :Travel from Shimoda to Osaka
Oct 10:Fly out from Kansai International Airport
I was thinking of getting the 14 day JR pass ,but I'm not sure if this is right for me.Is there a better solution?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I checked, and the result is that you are right in between where a 7-day JR Pass would be great (but you travel more than 7-days) and a 14-day JR Pass would need a bit more travel to really help you make savings.

With the above plan in mind, my advice is to by point-to-point tickets.

Kind regards,
Daniel
