Hi,
Like some advise pls. Trying with kids thus we only want to change hotel once for our tokyo cum osaka frip

Current plan
Day 1: reach haneda and take train to osaka
Day 2: osaka walk around
Day 3: hiroshima (maybe)
Day 4: usj
Day 5: nara
Day 6: kyoto
Day 7: kobe (maybe)
Day 8: train back to tokyo
Day 9: tokyo tour
Day 10: Gotemba to see mt fuji
Day 11: disney
Day 12 : disney
Day 13: ueno/yokohama
Day 14: leave tokyo

Was given advise no point to buy the pass unless confirm going hiroshima or change to 7 day osaka.
Unable to really confirm on the day trip since is my kid first f&e trip nor we want to change to 7 day osaka as we mtg friends in day 3.
Can advise if is really no point getting the pass? Was originally thinking of 14 days pass so no hassle on transport

Hi there,

Yes, I can confirm the initial advice you received. The JR Pass is best used for longer travel on the bullet trains.

For instance Hiroshima - Osaka or Kyoto - Tokyo. All your other travel is local. Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe are all within the Kansai Area and can be considered local. Same for Tokyo and Yokohama.

At the same time a return Osaka - Hiroshima is about 21.000yen, this alone would nearly pay for a 7-day JR Pass.

Kind regards,
Daniel
