We're planning to do 14 days in Japan.

Week 1
* 5 days travelling around Tokyo * 1 day Tokyo --> Nagoya --> Kyoto Week 2:
* 2 days in Kyoto * 4 days in Osaka * 1 day Osaka --> Yokohama --> Tokyo

Then return to Tokyo and fly home.

Does a 14 day JR pass make sense in this trip? or should we buy individual train passes around Tokyo, then use the 7 day JR pass for week 2?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there

I would recommend just purchasing one JR Pass for the second week - the JR Pass won't be of much use to you in Tokyo, apart from the fact that it offers travel on the JR Yamanote metro line. However it'll be much cheaper for you to just purchase a prepaid travel card such as a SUICA or PASMO for getting around Tokyo.

Hope this helps!
