Hello

Our family (2 adults and one 7 year old) are planning to visit Japan from October 1st - 15th.
Our current plan is:
Oct 1 - Arrive Tokyo Narita
Oct 1-6 - Tokyo
Oct 6-8 - Kanagawa/Takayama
Oct 8-11 - Kyoto
Oct 11-13 - Osaka
Oct 13-15 - Hakone
Oct 15 - return to Tokyo Haneda for onward flight

Could you please advise if a JR Pass would be suitable for this itinerary? If not, what sort of passes would we need?

Also - do the Pokemon trains still exist?

Much appreciated.

Hi Jenny,

The only pass that covers your itinerary and would be long enough is the 14-day JR Pass. A 7-day JR Pass would be cost-effective when used for travel to Takayama - Kyoto - Hakone, but you'd have to cut out a day somewhere.

As it stands, the best option here would be to just go and use normal rail tickets.

Kind regards,
Daniel
