On December 16th, I will be traveling from Osaka to Tokyo with a Japan Rail Pass via Shinkansen Hikari. Is it possible to make a stop near Mt. Fuji to take some photos and then catch another train into Tokyo? If so, what fares would be covered under the Japan Rail Pass?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Hi there!

Yes that's certainly possible! Why not head to Gotemba and visit one of the Fuji viewing spots in the area? Train travel to Gotemba is completely covered by the JR Pass. Also if you are in the mood, why not drop by the Premium outlets for some shopping.

You may need to use to the from Gotemba station depending on what Fuji viewing station you wish to go to. The local tourist information is very helpful helping you find the best spot and times!

I hope this helps!
Daniel
