Hi!
Me and my wife intent to spend 11 days in Japan with out base in Tokyo. We wanted to visit Kamakura, Hakone, Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, Riasu line from Kuji to Sakari, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Miyajima island. Will 11 days be sufficient or should we trim our itinerary?
We plan to take the Sinkansen to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and same day take a train to reach Kuji to spend the night. Next day morning take the direct train from Kuji to Sakari and switch trains to reach Tokyo the same day evening. Is it possible or do you suggest some changes. We are keen on seeing the Riasu line route.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

11 days does feel short for this type op trip. While it is possible, you should ask yourself, how many days do you want to spend in each area and explore. Most people would just go Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka - Hiroshima - Tokyo within 14 days. Personally, I think I'd take 5 days for Tohoku, 2 for Hakone, at least 3 for Kyoto, 2 for Hiroshima/Miyajima and add 1-2 for just travel.

Kind regards,
Daniel
