My girlfriend and I will be visiting Japan for 7 days in September. We're most likely going to purchase the 7-Day JR pass, and I just want to check with you guys before I go ahead and make the purchase. We will save money by buying the JR Pass correct?

September 15 Osaka
September 16 Osaka
September 17 Osaka to Kyoto
September 18 Kyoto
September 19 Kyoto to Tokyo
September 20 Tokyo
September 21 Tokyo to Osaka
September 22 Osaka to Hong Kong

Yes the JR Pass would offer you good value! The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a return Osaka/Kyoto - Tokyo so the extra travel that you do with it (to the Airport and to Kyoto for instance) will be what you save. You can also use the JR Pass on local JR lines in both Tokyo and Osaka and all these small rides can really add up but you won't have to worry about this at all with the JR Pass.
