Hi there,
I can’t give you an exact timeframe, but the journey from Kansai Airport to Osaka will take around an hour so I would say at least 2-3 hours to be safe. Pocket WiFi won’t take long to pick up but it’s dependent on how quickly you can pick up your luggage.
If you’re talking about the Shinkansen bullet train, you’ll need to have reserved a seat anyway, and so the size of your luggage determines which type of seat you’ll need to reserve. Here’s an excerpt from our blog:
- For each bag the total of the length, width and height must not exceed 250 centimetres, the length must not exceed two meters and the weight must be no more than 30 kilograms. Luggage pieces less than 160 cm (sum of height x length x width) can be brought aboard without prior reservation.
This means that if your luggage is between 160-250 cm total dimensions, then you’ll need to reserve a seat that has additional luggage space. Smaller luggage (<160cm) can be placed in overhead lockers.
I would recommend actually trying to activate the pass as soon as you reach Kansai Airport/Osaka, but having the activation date set to whenever you plan on using it later. This means that you can start making seat reservations in advance as soon as you set the activation date, meaning that if you have set out an itinerary you can make all your reservations in one go and not have to worry about it later.
Hope this helps!
