JR whole Japan rail pass 7 days for 12 days itinerary

Hi,

We are traveling to Japan for the first time with 2 kids age 8 and 11 years old in Dec (13-25 Dec).
I would like that check how can I fully utilize my 7 days JR pass for my below plans itinerary

Day 1-4. Tokyo / Disney
Day 5 Hakone
Day 6-7. Kyoto / Nara
Day 8-9 Osaka/ Kobe
Day 10-11 Takayama /Shirakawago (day trip to Kanazawa if have time)

Can I use Jr pass to reach all these places that I plan to visit? Any other pass I need to purchase except for Suica card in Tokyo and Hakone free pass in Hakone?

Will be highly appreciate your guidance to make my trip more smoothly.

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers travel to Takayama & Kanazawa. However, to reach Shirakawa-go extra travel by express bus is required, and this is not included in the JR Pass.

To get the best use out of your 7-day JR Pass, start using it from day 6, when you travel to Kyoto.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply and information on how to travel to Shirakawago.

Can I use JR pass to Nara from Kyoto, Kobe from Osaka?
I haven't workout the route to all the places that I want to visit yet. But just want to make sure I fully utilize the JR pass.

Hi again :)

Yes, travel between all these places is covered by the JR Pass, and JR has direct connections between all these cities.

Hi Daniel,

Can I make reservations seats for all the JR station that I am going to take base on my itinerary on the fitst day when I exchange for my JR pass?

How if we miss the boarding time that we have reserved?
