Hello. I will be in Japan in April, and my itinerary is as follows. I was checking train fares and it seems that buying tickets individually might be cheaper than the JR Pass. Is that right?
17 Apr Arrival in Tokyo
18 Apr Tokyo
19 Apr Tokyo
20 Apr Travel Tokyo to Nikko
21 Apr Travel Nikko to Tokyo
22 Apr Tokyo
23 Apr Travel Tokyo to Kawaguchi
24 Apr Travel Kawaguchi to Kyoto
25 Apr Kyoto
26 Apr Kyoto
27 Apr Travel Kyoto to Hiroshima
27 Apr Travel Hiroshima to Miajima
27 Apr Travel Miajima to Hiroshima
28 Apr Travel Hiroshima to Osaka
29 Apr Osaka
30 Apr Travel Osaka to Nara
1 May Travel Nara to Osaka
2 May Travel Osaka to Tokyo
End.

Hi there,

Yes, for your itinerary it is likely to be more cost-effective to purchase your tickets individually. However, the JR Pass will cover all of your itinerary and so it is still an option worth looking into if you feel that a pass is better suited for you.

Hope this helps!
