Hi,

I just want to make sure before I buy my JR passes that they will be valid for transport between all the cities I will be visiting come November. Here is my itinerary:

Tokyo to Kyoto
Kyoto to Osaka
Osaka to HIroshima
Hiroshima to Nagasaki
Nagasaki to Fukuoka
Fukuoka to Nagano
Nagano to Tokyo

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated as I am looking to order my XOs next week.

Hi there!

Yes, the JR Pass will give you 100% cover for this trip! (and it looks great by the way).

For reference, here is the cost breakdown for you of your trip:

  1. Tokyo > Kyoto: ¥13,420 (164mins, 513km)
  2. Kyoto > Osaka: ¥540 (28mins, 42km)
  3. Osaka > Hiroshima: ¥10,150 (104mins, 345km)
  4. Hiroshima > Nagasaki(nagasaki): ¥12,850 (190mins, 434km)
  5. Nagasaki(nagasaki) > Hakata: ¥4,380 (112mins, 153km)
  6. Hakata > Nagano: ¥20,720 (437mins, 1059km)
  7. Nagano > Tokyo: ¥8,170 (106mins, 222km)

JR ticket cost: ¥70,230 for 7 legs

Note that the mainline JR station in Fukuoka is called "Hakata" for historical reasons.

Hope this helps!
