Hi, greetings from Australia. I am stil confused what best pass to purchase for me and my husband, travelling 23 days in Japan. Arriveal fligtt at Sapporo New Chitose - departure flight at Narita Tokyo.

We will need the train: Chitose airport - Sapporo, and will visit: Asahiyama Zoo, Otaru, Noboribetsu, Lake Toya, Furano, Hakodate, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto, Fushima Inari, Nara, Takayama, Mishima/Otsuki (Mt Fuji), Tokyo, Narita Airport.

Will a JR regional pass 21 days cover all these destinations? or should we get an combined/ mixed different pass? Kindly advise. Many thanks for your help.

Hi there,

With regional passes, the question to ask is, will you be staying in one region or travel around different regions. In your case this is quite easy, you are travelling all over Japan :) In that case, the only option to consider is to look at a national JR Pass. It may depend a little on your timing, but I both a 14-day Japan Rail Pass or 21-day JR Pass would help you make very good savings here.

Kind regards,
Daniel
