Hi there!

You have a lot of flexibility here I think. For some inspiration to start your planning, I recommend you plan on staying in Osaka/Kyoto are for a few days at the start, and again in Tokyo at the end of your trip for a few days, spending your time with the rail pass in between these two areas.

Here are some ideas for places to go:

  • Kyoto
  • Nara
  • Koyasan (incl non-JR)
  • Kinosaki onsen
  • Himeji
  • Kurashiki
  • Hiroshima/Miyajima
  • Naoshima (incl non-JR)
  • Takayama
  • Tokyo
  • Nikko
  • Kamakura
  • Hakone
  • Fuji-5-lakes (incl non-JR)

I hope this gives you some good ideas for a base trip! Be sure to check out our JRPass map page to see these locations in more detail. Also, you can search this forum for other 14 day itineraries from our users :)

Hope this helps you start the process - exciting to have so much time!
