Hey! I'm having a trouble to decide which one to choose...

My family and I are going to spent 16 days in Japan and we are planning to go from Tokyo to Kyoto but with some stopovers at Yokohama, Hakone, Nagoya, Nara, Osaka and go back to Tokyo. Our main transportation will be subways, bus and trains.

The Itinerary:

Day 1/4 - Tokyo
Day 4 - Yokohama
Day 4 /6 - Hakone
Day 6/ 7 - Nagoya
Day 7/8 - Nara
Day 8/12 - Osaka
Day 12/15 - Kyoto
Day 15/16 - Tokyo

If I have to use JR Pass which one I should choose? 7 or 14 Days?

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary for the best options and recommend buying normal tickets for this trip. This is because a 7-day JR Pass would not match your plans efficiently, and a 14-day Japan Rail Pass would not help you make savings on this route.

You can get an idea of costs involved, using our JR Farecalculator.

Kind regards,
Daniel

We have the same dilemma with Maju. I cannot figure out what will be best if to get a JR Pass or not for our 10 days itinerary starting from Fukuoka to any point northernmost of Japan. Will this be economical for us if we just stick our plan from Fukuoka to Tokyo then back?
