HI - family of 4 travelling in January - not sure if we should go ordinary or green pass if the difference is worth it ? Here is our itinerary : arrive narita fri 11 Jan, travel to Osaka sat 12 ( probably go from narita to tokyo the friday night unless other suggestions ), osaka for 2 nights then to hiroshima for 2 nights , then kyoto for 4 nights then to Nozawa for skiing for 5 nights then back to tokyo for 4 nights before flying out of Narita Tuesday 29 Jan at 8.30pm. so looking at a 21 day pass but not sure if green class worth the extra that we could spend elsewhere ?. Think we have to do the 21 day pass for that itinerary ?
Green or Ordinary Pass for 21 day travel

Hi there,
I think you could use a 14 day Japan Rail Pass as well and then buy tickets for your last days in Tokyo. The JR Pass works great for travel between cities like to Osaka, Hiroshima, Nozawa and back Tokyo but local travel within Tokyo is relatively low cost.
For the Green Pass, I recommend this option if you want to travel in more peace and quiet. However, this adds up to quite a bit for a wholy family and I'm sure that you'll be more than fine in ordinary class as well. Trains in Japan are amazing and ordinary class is often better than 1st class in many other countries. Still, it can be a nice option if you have the budget available and just want to make the best of your travels.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
