Hi, I plan to get 14Day JR pass. But still trying to figure out which trains/busses are not included in the pass.

  1. Narita-Tokyo is this trip covered by the pass? if not, which train/bus should I use? How much is the cost?
  2. Tokyo-Lake Kawaguchi round trip. Can this trip be done in all JR trains? If not, which train/bus should I use? Price?
  3. Kanazawa-Shirakawago-Takayama. Is JR pass valid for this route? Schedules & fees?
  4. Is there a website where I can check all JR trains schedules? and fees?
  5. Which buses are included in JR pass?

Please help

Hi there,

1.) Yes, you can use the Narita Express. This is the fastest and most convenient route into Tokyo.

2.) Please see: https://www.jrpass.com/blog/itinerary-tip-mt-fuji#Access%20to%20Kawaguchiko

3.) The JR Pass does not cover the bus to/from Shirakawa-go. You can find details here: https://www.jrpass.com/blog/visit-shirakawa-go-with-the-japan-rail-pass

4.) For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

5.) All local JR bus buses are covered by the JR Pass. Buses run by other companies are not included.

Kind regards,
Daniel
