Hello! Could someone please help me check my itinerary? I'm evaluating whether it's worth buying the JR Pass. I will spend 15 days in Japan next month.

First part of the trip:
Tokyo – Takayama – Shirawana Go – Takayama

Second part of the trip:
Takayama – Kyoto – Hiroshima – Osaka – Tokyo or Takayama – Osaka – Hiroshima – Kyoto – Tokyo

Questions:

Are these routes covered by JR Pass?
Should I do Takayama – Kyoto or Takayama - Osaka?

Thanks very much!

Hi there,

All of your itinerary is covered by the JR Pass - you’re visiting a lot of places so a JR Pass is recommended.

As for choosing between Takayama-Kyoto or Takayama-Osaka, the overall travel time will remain the same for both, so it’s up to your preference. If it was me, I would choose Takayama-Kyoto, because the trip to Kyoto is shorter and then you can take the Shinkansen directly to Tokyo from Hiroshima.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
