Hello Daniel-san,
My family of four is planning our travel in June 2023. We have two children, ages 6 and 3 and our itinerary is as follows:
-Tokyo to Osaka for a 7-day stay
-During Osaka, we'll be making a day trip to Kyoto
-After 7 days in Osaka, travel from Osaka to Hakone for a 4-day stay
-After 4 days in Hakone, travel to Tokyo for 6-day stay before heading back home
Question, what is our best option when purchasing a JRpass?
Thanks in advance Daniel-san!

Hi there,
I checked and do not think a JR Pass would help you make savings during your trip. This is mostly related to timings, for example a return Tokyo - Kyoto could be a good option for a 7-day JR Pass. However, you already stay more than 7 days combined in Kyoto and Osaka.
For your trip, my recommendation would be to just buy normal tickets as you travel.
Kind regards,
Daniel
Thank you Daniel-san. Now that leads to my next question...would it be an inconvenience of waiting in lines or buying normal tickets and pay as we go? Is having a JRPass more convenient then?
