Hi there,

Since you will be traveling so much I think a 14-Day Rail-pass will be will suited.

Here are is a breakdown of travel costs without the pass. For this I used the dates 9th - 22th as this would cover most of your travels.

Tokyo Nikko Return ¥ 10,860
Tokyo Hakamura ?
Tokyo --> Takayama ¥ 14,300
Takayama --> Nara ¥ 10,310
Nara --> Kyoto ¥ 690
Kyoto Himeji :¥ 5,130
Kyoto --> Miyajima ¥ 11,110 + 170 for ferry
Miyajima --> Hiroshima ¥ 400
Hiroshima --> Kyoto ¥ 10,790
Kyoto --> Osaka ¥ 540
Osaka --> Koyasako?

This adds up to ¥ 64,300 the 14 day JR-Pass is ¥ 45,100 saving you at least ¥ 19,200. I was a bit unsure about what you meant with Hakamura and Koyasako so could not add them in. They could possibly add more to the total savings. If by Koyasako you mean Koyasan, then I would recommend using the JR-Pass on the first day when u arrive to use it on the Narita Express for Tokyo. Otherwise the [Skyliner + 2day metro pass] offer great value to get to and travel in Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
-Daniel

dear Daniel,
thank you !!!

you were right, i wrongly wrote two places, i meant Kamakura and Koyasan !!

first of all thanks, thanks a lot
i really think that you are really a very expert about japan and i take the opportunity to ask you some more tips

you think is better to start our jpr 14v days from our arrival in tokyo..., but what about the last days:

21/4 oskaa-koyasan-osaka
22/4 osaka
23/4 early very early in the morning to go to osaka airport

should we moove with public bus,trains or maybe is better to start out jpr on 2° day in tokyo (8/4) and use the jpr
for osaka-koyasan-osaka ?

one more suggestion:

do you think this trip is ok or maybe i could miss some points and go to visit Ise ?
any other your suggestion, any other your comment about this trip will be very appreciated

waiting for yr kind reply and thank you again

Hi Fausto,

I suggested to use the pass on the 1st day that you arrive because Koya-san is reached by the Kintetsu railway company and therefor is not covered by the JR pass. Also you can get from Osaka to Kansai Airport for as low as 980 Yen while Narita --> Tokyo is a little bit more.

I think you do a really good job of covering Japan, it's a big country so you can't see everything at once but all the places you plan to visit are great. I guess you could visit Ise on the 3rd day that you are in Kyoto but there is more than enough in Kyoto to Enjoy. Maybe if you really want to see Ise you could change it for Himeji, the caste there is under renovation until 2015 so you won't be able to see the whole thing. More information on that here.

Have a great time in Japan!
