Hi,

My partner and I are travelling to Japan for 2 weeks and are wondering if a 7-day JR Rail Pass will be worth it for the second half of our trip.

Day 1-3 Tokyo for 3 nights
Day4-6 Flying Tokyo to Sapporo then Niseko for 3 nights
Day 7/8 Flying to Osaka for 2 nights

After that point from Osaka we would be where we would be looking at the rail pass

Day 9/10 Trains from Osaka to Kyoto for 2 nights
Day 11-13 Trains from Kyoto to Nozawa Onsen for 3 nights
Day 14 to Trains from Nozawa Onsen to Tokyo for 1 night
Day 15 fly out.

Thanks for the help.

Hi there,

Since you cover the long distances by plane, it would not be cost-efficient to use a JR Pass. For your trip, I'd just buy the normal rail tickets as you travel. There are also Express bus options to Nozowa Onsen, which may be a cheaper alternative.

Kind regards,
Daniel
