Hello,

Could you please advise whether it is cheaper or more efficient to purchase a JR pass for the 7-day itenerary below or whether it is better to purchase individual tickets.

Friday 3 May - Tokyo to Mt Fuji / Kawaguchiko and return to Tokyo
Sat 4 May - Tokyo to Osaka
Sunday 5 May - Osaka to Hiroshima / Miyajama (return)
Monday 6 May - Osaka to Kyoto
Thursday 9 May - Kyoto - Haokne - Tokyo
Friday 10 May - Tokyo to Narita Airport

Thank you for your guidance!

Hi there,

The JR Pass won't entirely cover your trips to Kawaguchiko and Hakone, but because you'll be making several expensive shinkansen trips in a short period of time I would still recommend purchasing a JR Pass, and buying separate (relatively inexpensive - don't worry!) bus tickets for Hakone and Kawaguchiko from the nearest JR stations.

Hope this helps!

Alexis

Thank you so much! I am travelling in the Golden Week (Eek!) but not reaching Japan until 1 May. How early do you reccomend booking tickets? I'm assuming I cannot book from the UK.

Appreciate your help.
