Hello,
We plan to visit Japan from 14th of February 2025 to 28TH February 2025. We are 5 people.

We have a plan as below:
• Osaka (14 - 16 February). • Hiroshima (16 - 17 February). • Miyajima (17 - 18 February). • Kyoto (18 – 23 February). One-day trip Kyoto–Nara –Kyoto (12 February). • Takayama (23 - 24 February). • Takayama - Shirarkawago – Kanazawa (24 February). • Kanazawa (24 - 26 February). • Tokyo (26 - 28 February).

We need your advice to know which is better, using JRPASS or buying individual Shinkansen tickets.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

For your itinerary I believe a 14-day JR Pass would be ideal - you’ll be using the Shinkansen a lot which would mean purchasing tickets individually for your itinerary would likely amount to more than the cost of the JR Pass. Please note that the bus tickets to and from Shirakawago will not be covered by the JR Pass, but compared to train prices these are a relatively inexpensive addition and train travel is covered up until Takayama and then Kanazawa forward.

Kind regards,

Alexis
