Hi!

We are visiting Japan for two weeks and our itinerary is as follows:

Days 1-6: Tokyo, with a day trip to Nikko
Day 7 -8: Hakone and Oishi Park
Day 9 -12: Osaka + two day trips to Kyoto, one day trip to Nara and maybe one day trip to Hiroshima
Day 13 -14: Kanazawa and shirakawago
Day 15: Tokyo

I've used few different calculators but still can't figure out if the JR Pass or any regional passes are worth for our trip.
What is your opinion?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there,

For your itinerary it is likely to be more cost-effective to purchase your tickets individually. However, the JR Pass will cover all of your itinerary and so it is still an option worth looking into if you feel that a pass is better suited for you.

To get to Hakone, you'll need to either purchase different rail or bus tickets as direct transport is not covered by any JR-operated transport - this can be done from Odawara Station.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
