Hello
I am travelling to Japan on vacation. I will be arriving on Sun 4 Oct at Narita airport. I will be staying in Tokyo 3 nights, travelling to Nikko and Hakone and to Kyoto and then spending my last night in Tokyo. I will fly out from Narita airport on Monday 12 Oct. Any advice on what Japan Rail Pass I should buy. I will want to travel around Tokyo too,
Thanks
Lucy

Hi Lucy,

I definitely recommend using a 7 day JR Pass, the pass itself is almost the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. You can make very good savings if you can use it to travel to Nikko as well for instance. That is of course if you can do so within its 7 day validity period. You can buy the Japan Rail Pass here.

Local travel within Tokyo does not cost that much compared to say the bullet train and you can purchase normal tickets or discount day tickets such as for the Tokyo Metro.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
