My family of 5 will be traveling to Japan from June 15-22, 2019. We will mainly be in Tokyo, but are thinking of possibly going to Osaka/Kyoto for a few days...but it's not for sure. To get around, what would you recommend
we get? We will be staying at the Sheraton by Tokyo Disneyland and then travel into Tokyo and surround areas...

Hi Mary,
A JR Pass will be a good option if you go to Kyoto/Osaka but would not help you make savings if you stay only in Tokyo. I suggest making a decision before you go, this way you can travel cost efficiently.

Hi Mary,
This pass is only valid on the Hokuriku Arch route via Nagoya and Kanazawa. This takes quite a lot longer between Osaka - Tokyo then using the Tokaido route. The difference is about 3 hours.
The JR Pass is the better option, unless you want to make a stop or two on the Hokuriku route.

4 years go we went to Japan and now we are heading back for another visit this coming July! Where can I find cost of purchasing a ticket on the fast train to travel to Osaka/Kyoto. I am trying to see if we should do JR Pass or not. This time, we are traveling with a larger group. Also, do the trains travel late nights too?
