Travelling from Kobe to Naruto

Hi!

I'm planning a trip to Japan with my boyfriend and our best friend. next year from March through to April. After staying in Kobe for a night, we hope to travel to the city of Naruto in the prefecture of Tokushima. I have done some research and have come to the conclusion that taking the Awa-Express bus from Shin-Kobe to Naruto is the quickest and most convenient way. Am I correct?

Also, where do I purchase a ticket for the Awa-Express bus, as I know that our JRPass does not cover this.

Also, does anyone know of any good places to stay in Naruto? I have found a small few but none that really appeal, and others that are really quite expensive!

Thanks!
Erica.

Hi Erica and welcome back :)

Yes the Awa-Express bus is the quickest way to get to Naruto from Kobe. It's a bus run by JR so you can buy tickets for it at any JR station in Japan, just tell the staff when and where you wish to travel and they will print the tickets for you (after paying of course).

Unfortunately I don't have a recommended accommodation in Naruto but you could also look at staying in Tokushima city or Takamatsu (which is also a very beautiful town).

I hope this helps!

LOL! Aww Daniel! I had a sneaky feeling you would be the first to reply to my question!! I knew I should have put, "hello again!!!" at the start of my message! hahaha. Thank you so much for your answers!

Sweeeeet! This makes life soooo easy!! I assume that it would be pretty easy to purchase the ticket on the same day of travel then?

Thanks again Daniel!!

Hi Erica!

It's good to see you back and that you are really taking a good amount of time to plan everything!

I don't think that it will be hard at all to buy tickets for the bus as there's 12 departing per dag. In addition if you may encounter any kind of difficulty, there's a really friendly tourist information center at Kobe and they will be able to help you for sure!

All the best!
Daniel
