Hallo, we (2 adults) are coming in Tokyo on the 25th of December and leaving on the 4th of January. We'll stay in Shibuya area, and planning to stay mainly inside Tokyo (moving a lot around the areas), except for a visit (we'd like to go and come back on the same day, hope time is enough) to Kyoto.
Also, we'd like to use the Narita Express, we read that reservation is needed one month ahead.
Could you please suggest which passes best fit our needs? We read about a lot of solutions: Japan Rail Pass, one day / two day tickets for Tokyo metro (with a discount for foreigners), Suica card (which seems not to guarantee a discount but only the easy-to-use system to access metro)...
Thanks for your help!

Hi there!
I would certainly recommend a 7 Day JR Pass for your travel the price is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto and now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price! You can use the JR Pass for local travel around Tokyo, on the Narita Express or even for a day trip from Tokyo to one of the surrounding areas, such as Kamakura, Hakone or Nikko.
The Narita Express is indeed by reservation only, the train can be reserved 1 month in advance but you can also make seat reservations up to 5 minutes before departure.
I've added a map for you with all lines covered in Tokyo by the JR Pass.
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Thank you very much for your fast reply. So we'll buy the 7 day JR Pass. As we suppose to use a lot also Tokyo metro to move around, what about purchasing also one day/two day cards (discount for foreigners) or Suica card? Could you kindly advise us also about this topic? Thanks a lot
In that case consider the Tokyo Metro 1 day pass which costs 710yen and allows for unlimited travel on the Tokyo Metro for a single day. It's easy to make savings with if you go on a sightseeing spree.
