Transferring trains.

Travelling from Utsunomiya to Takayama and have a transfer at Tokyo from track 20 to track 16 with 13 minutes in which to do so. Can you give me guidance - is this enough time - as we really do not have a later option. Will be using JR R/pass also. So will this mean that once we arrive in Tokyo and make our way to departure track, that we just line up?

thanks in advance.

Hi there,

That is plenty of time! You could have buy some Sushi in the meantime to eat on the train.

You may reserve seats in advance with the JR Pass, so there's no need to line up before entering the train.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Daniel-san.

Obviously this means we do not have to walk far (albeit in peak hour travel) but do we have to walk out and re-enter?

I'm having difficulty working out on the map as to what we need to do regarding the transfer.

Regards,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Yes you will have to go trough one gate from the Tohoku Shinkansen to the Tokaido Shinkansen. This is only one gate and should not be hard if you follow the signs with Tokaido Shinkansen.

Let me know if you have more questions!
