Hello, we are coming for winter vacation - 16 days - to Japan, 3 persons. We'd like to visit Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Kyoto, Nagoya, Okinawa. Is it better to have JR pass or go by car? What are the tolls in Japan? Do they vary depending on the date? ill appreciate any suggestions :).

Hi Ania,

I don't have much road experience in Japan. Mainly because trains have always been so amazing that I have not needed them.

I would advise posting your question over at gaijinpot.com, a lot of foreigners living in Japan can be found there and I am sure somebody will be able to give you a much better answer than I could.

As for trains, well they will get you to all these places way faster than by car. The Shinkansen go over 300km per hour and stop at all these places, excluding Okinawa.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you, Daniel, that's indeed very helpful :). I will also ask at gaijinpot then. Shinkansen seems amazing though.

Best,

Ania
