Is there any part of the train ride from Narita Airport to Chitose Airport in Sapporro that goes under water and for how long is the ride under water. Planning to travel in January

Hi there,
Yes, the route will take you under water trough the Seikan Tunnel.
The route takes you from Aomori - Hakodate and takes about 3 hours, I am not sure how much of this time is in the tunnel.
As of march 2015, Shinkansen will directly travel from Hakodate to Tokyo. Making the route a lot faster.
