Hi

I was wondering where in Tokyo would be the best place for me to stay where I can access a train station for an early morning return trip to Kisarazu in Chiba using the JR pass?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Kisarazu is on the east side of the bay from Tokyo, so anywhere towards east Tokyo will get you closer. Here's a sample itinerary from Tokyo station to Kisarazu. I'd look to stay anywhere with good access to the Sobu Line which will take you out to Chiba where you can change to Kisarazu. Here's a list of stations on the Sobu line that will be useful for you.

Hope this helps!

Thanks again Mari for your help

I have seen a decent place to stay (good price for me) and apparently it is a 1 minute walk from Asakusa station (Ginzo line) would this line/station be ok to take a train to Kisarazu??

Hi Jim,

The Ginza line is on the Tokyo Metro, so you'll need to make quite a few transfers. Chiba will have a good selection of hotels, and will also be good value and not too far from Tokyo or Kisarazu. Perhaps you could consider it? Alternatively, if you want to be closer, Kinshicho is fairly central although the hotel selection may not be the best... If you want the best hotels, there are some great places to stay around Tokyo station itself, but be prepared to pay for the privilege!

You can look up train timetables and costs for all of your legs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.

Hope this helps!

Hi

I actually found a decent place to stay in Tokyo next to the Bakurocho station. Though Chiba might be a more convenient option.
