Hey,

I have a few questions about traveling in Japan general and using the JR-pass. We are 3 adults and traveling with 2 children (8 and 11) Our travel plan is:
- 07.June: Narita airport - Tokyo Minowa station - 10. June: Tokyo - Shizuoka - 11. June: Shizuoka - Kyoto - 13. June: Kyoto - Osaka - !4. June: Osaka -Kansai Airport

  1. How much would it cost to use JR for each way? Should we buy the JR pass?
  2. And which kind of tickets should we get to get around the city?

Hi there,

1.) For this itinerary I recommend purchasing normal tickets. You'll be traveling one way from Tokyo - Osaka, with stops in between at Shizuoka and Kyoto. A JR Pass would be a good option if you made a return between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka. You can find the exact fare of each route using www.hyperdia.com

2.) For local travel in Tokyo, look at using a Tokyo Metro day pass. In Kyoto you can buy a bus passes for 500yen and consider the Osaka amazing pass for Osaka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
