Overnight Luggage Store at Kyoto Station?

Hi,

I am planning to stay in Japan for a month. While using Kyoto as a base I was thinking of taking three overnight stays; one at Miyajima, one at Kumano Kodo and one at Naoshima. For each of these trips I was hoping to take just a small overnight bag and leave my large suitcase in Kyoto. My question is, is it possible to leave suitcases at the manned luggage store within Kyoto station overnight? I ask as I do not want to rely on there being available large lockers as I have read that there are very few of these.

Thank you very much for your advise.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Actually there are plenty of lockers available at Kyoto station and if for some reason you can't find enough, just go down to the metro section and there are plenty more.

There's also a luggage carry service called carry-s in the bottom of Kyoto station, which also offers the possibility to just hang on to your luggage. The fee is 410 yen for a 24h period. You can find the details here: http://www.carry-s.com/html/goriyou_ichi.html although the service is only available in Japanese, so you may want to ask the Tourist information desk for help.

Additionally you could ask your accommodation to hold on to your suitcase. This never is a problem if you return to stay with them on short term.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your help. Absolutely brilliant. I was very worried about this but it seems it won't be a problem.

Thanks again Daniel
