My Fuji from tokyo
Hi there,
Don't worry, I'll help you out with everything you need! Firstly, to get to Kawaguchiko Station from Tokyo, the easiest and quickest way is to take a JR Highway Bus from Shinjuku/Shibuya Bus Station, specifically the Tokyo-Kawaguchiko/Yamanaka service which is a direct trip. You can book for this here. You can book a return ticket for about £20 GBP, not too bad !
First and foremost, if you're planning to visit Sasebo as well as other tourist spots in Japan then I'd recommend purchasing a JR Pass, a month or so before you leave (no more than three months before the 15th otherwise it won't be valid for use!). This is because you'll be using the Shinkansen trains a lot, which when bought separately expenses can pile up quite quickly. My suggestion would be to do a round trip starting and ending in Tokyo (If you want to go to Yokohama as well you can easily do a day trip in one of the days you plan on staying and sightseeing in Tokyo). I suggest starting in Tokyo, making your way to Osaka/Kyoto area and staying the night, then go onto either Hiroshima or Fukuoka (station is called Hakata for Fukuoka city) so you can then go out to Sasebo the next day. For your itinerary, if you are planning on flying out of Tokyo then you'd have one long day of travelling after visiting Sasebo, but if you were to fly out of Kansai (Osaka) Airport it would make things easier as you'd have less overall travel time on the way back.
Kind regards,
Alexis
