Hello,

I'm doing a trip with my girlfriend to Japan for 16 day in December, and we want to be sure if the JR Pass is the best option for us (I think it is, but she wants to make sure). Our plan is:
1. Arrive at Narita and from there to kyoto (passing through Tokyo)
2. 7 days in Kyoto, in between go to Nara and Kobe.
3. Return to Tokyo from the remainder of the trip, and go to see Fuji-san and other places surrounding Tokyo.

We want to see if the JR pass of 14 days help us go to all this places, and give us other advantages the pass has.

Thank you very much!

Hi there,

You'd have to do a bit more travel for a 14 day JR Pass to be cost effective. Though say adding a day trip to Kyoto to Hiroshima would already pay for the 14 day Pass. Alternatively you could see if you can make the return to Tokyo within 7 days, then a 7 day JR Pass would be cost efficient.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
