Greetings Folks,

I am traveling Japan for the 1st time and we are 4 members - Me, My wife, 2 sons (13 years & 9 years). The holiday is planned primarily for the kids.

I plan the following kindly suggest

26th July arrival - take a limousine bus to hotel in Shinjuku, Evening rest. Planning to stay put in Shinjuku and travel daily.

27th July - Tokyo (JR pass day 1)
28th July - Disney Land (JR pass day 2)
29th July - Tokyo (JR pass day 3)
30th July - Mount Fuji (JR pass day 4)
31st July - Yokohama (JR pass day 5)
1st August - Osaka - Universal Studio (JR pass day 6)
2nd August - Kyoto | Nara or if tired we may just enjoy Tokyo
3rd August - Checkout & depart to airport via limousine bus

Please share your suggestions and what we can do in tokyo keeping 2 boys in mind.

Also should i take a ordinary JR pass or Green ?
Will i be able to take Shinkansen experience through ordinary pass ?

Thank You

Hi there,

I recommend reading this post for tips on what to do with your kids in Tokyo and elsewhere.

I think a normal 7 day JR Pass would help. For your trip, Green cars would only be available for travel from Tokyo - OSaka and Kyoto back to Tokyo. These are the longest trips, which may be nice but not needed. You will be fine using the Shinkansen in a ordinary pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
