My family (my husband, me and my 13 years old son) will travel in Japan this August. We will arrive in Tokyo on August 11 then to Osaka then from Osaka will do a few day trips to Kyoto, Kobe, Nagoya perhaps Kyushu. Then from Osaka back to Tokyo to catch our flight back. Total trip will be 7 days. I would like to know what will be the way to arrange our transportation. Will JR pass work for our Itinerary?
How to transport
Hello there,
It would be easier to say once you finalize your itinerary a bit more, for instance: where in Kyushu would you like to visit and how many days would you like to spend in each place. Looking at it so far, the JR Pass covers all the places where you would like to go and you can make good savings if you plan on going to Kyushu.
For route consider: Osaka, Kobe - Kyushu - Nagoya - Tokyo, this would work best without additional backtracking.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for your quick reply.
According to your suggestion (as Osaka, Kobe-Kyushu-Nagoya-Tokyo will 7 days JR pass work for this itinerary?
Shall purchase 7 days JR pass? Will JR pass work for local subway?
Thanks,
Mei
Hello Mei!
Yes, the JR Pass works perfectly for this route. You can make great savings compared to purchasing normal train tickets. The JR Pass is also valid for local JR lines, however other transport such as the subway is not included.
In Osaka, Kobe and Tokyo JR lines can get you to most places.
Hope this helps too!
Daniel
