Haneda-Tokyo-Hakone-Kyoto-Kansai Airport

I am flying into Haneda AIrport on January 7, staying three days in Tokyo near Shinjuku, then going to Hakone for one night and two days, and then going to Kyoto and departing from Kansai Airport in Osaka on January 14th. Would it be cost effective to get the Japan Rail Pass? If not, how should one go from Hakone to Kyoto? By train? Or are there other options to consider?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi there,

For this itinerary I would stick with buying normal tickets. Simply because the cost of normal tickets will be below the cost of a JR Pass.

You can use rail travel for all of the routes you plan to visit, it can also be useful to buy a Hakone Free Pass.

Happy Holidays!
Daniel
