Hello,

Here is our ten day itinerary and we would like to know what type of passes we should get or if what we have is enough and we are also concerned about the type of passes certain rail lines and places can accept:

Day 1: Arrive in Narita and travel to Nagoya (staying in Nagoya from day 1-6)
Day 2: Sightseeing in Nagoya
Day 3: Go Osaka and kyoto
Day 4: Go Osaka
Day 5: Kumamoto
Day 6: Go Tokyo (staying in Tokyo from day 6-10)
Day 7-Day 9: sightseeing in Tokyo- Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Asakusa
Day 10: Tokyo-Narita Airport.

We thought of getting the 7 Day JR Pass (activate and use from Day 1-7) and get the 3 day + Keiser Sykliner (1 way) pass to roam around Tokyo.

Is it alright or should we get a suica card instead for our remaining days in Tokyo and get a 1 way N'EX pass to Narita and a JR pass.

Thank You for taking the time to read and reply. Greatly Appreciated!! :)

Hi there,

Getting a 7 day JR Pass for this itinerary is an easy choice. Is there a special reason for visiting Kumamoto? It adds a good amount of extra travel time to your itinerary, although this is where the JR Pass gives you very good value.

A Keisei ticket plus metro pass also sounds good to me. The great thing about this deal is that you can use it either from Narita Airport or towards Narita Airport, you do have to buy the ticket at Narita Airport though.

You could also get a Suica card, just in case you have to use non Metro transport or want to look cool and use a Suica card to buy something in a convenience store.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

As said, it would pay off, but your plans also make me scratch my head a bit. Nagoya is one of the least interesting big cities, although there are some place like Inuyama nearby that are wonderful. Takayama is another possibility. Kumamoto is rather small and most famous for its castle and Suizenji Garden, which is a must-see place:

But if you're planning to go to Mt. Aso, it has been closed for months and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Nagasaki is the most interesting city on the island though. Kagoshima is also a nice place to visit.
