Hello - I believe that Fukuoka to Oita travel via train is a regional service, therefore - would a JR Pass not valid for this travel?

Hi there,
The JR Pass covers travel to Oita, you'd take the Shinkansen from Hakta - > Kokura and then a ltd. express train to Oita. This is fully covered by the JR Pass.
