Hi there,

I've booked a 7 nights holiday in Japan in May 2016 and my itinerary is more or less as follows:

Day 1 and 2 in Tokyo
Day 3 travel to Kyoto
Day 4 and 5 in Kyoto
Day 6 Back to Tokyo
Day 7 Tokyo

Planing to visit:
Tokyo: Tsukiji Fish Market, Sensoji a Temple, Meiji Temple, Ginza, Harajuku, Rikugien a Garden, a Omotesando
Also hoping to visit Mt Fuji time permitting

Kyoto: The Holden Pavilion, Yasara Shrine , Gion, Ryoan-Ji
Hoping to make a day trip to Nara and Osaka from Kyoto

I am hoping to stay in Shinjuku in Tokyo and somewhere central in Kyoto.

I would like to know apart from the JP Pass will I need a PASMO card and a SUICA card - taking into consideration the places I'm planning to visit.

Any suggestions on how I could my itinerary would also be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Pasmo and Suica are both IC cards and are usable interchangeably. So you only have to buy one. The JR Pass however will take care of most of your travel.

For staying in Kyoto, look for a hotel near Shijo, Kawaramachi or Gion, to be in the best part of town.

I also recommend a visit to Nishiki market in Kyoto.

Also for tips on visiting Fuji:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
