i am going to shangahi by srilankan airways reaching at 12.30pm. My connecting flight to narita tokyo is next day at 9.30am. Can i stay in the airport as transit passenger? can i book my checked in baggage direct to tokyo?

Hi there!
You can stay at Narita Airport all night as you wish or make make visit to Tokyo if you enter Japan under a 48H transfer visa or a 90day tourist visa.
As for getting your bag directly to Tokyo, that's something you could best ask your airline, they may be able to forward to bag to your hotel or accommodation.
