Hi there,
I am going to Japan for 16 days. Not sure whether should i buy the JR pass?
Upon arriving Narita airport terminal 2 , i will to to :
Asakusa then to
Kanazawa
Takayama
Kyoto
Nara
Osaka
Hakone
Nagoya
Tokyo

Should i get the JR pass or the day by day normal domestic pass.

Thank you.

Hi there,

For your itinerary, it is likely that purchasing your tickets individually would be your best option rather than a 14-day JR Pass, as it's likely to be your best and most cost-effective option.

Kind regards,

Alexis

What about a 7 days pass ? Start using only from Kanazawa until Hakone ( 7 days pass).
Thank you

Hiya,

You could purchase a pass for that stretch if you wish to do so, but to be completely transparent it would be cheaper overall to purchase your tickets individually. It is still an option, since you will be utilising both Shinkansen and local trains, but if you are prioritising minimisation of your trip's expenses it's best to purchase individually. In terms of apps, the Japan Travel Navitime app is in a league of its own !
