Advice for a 10days trip in Japan plz

Hi every1,
My Gf and i will be in Japan for 10 days. We gonna stay in Tokyo for 4days ( to attend my japanese friend's wedding ). After that we have 4 days to travel to kyoto and some other places and the last 2 days we will be back to Tokyo.
So, can you please recommend some places near Tokyo or Kyoto that we should visit?
And the second question: should we buy JR pass or normal ticket will be more cost-saving ?

Hi there,

Starting with transport, the 7 day JR Pass is almost the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. You can make nice savings if you cover additional travel with it as well. Given that you plan on visiting a couple other places as well, I think the JR Pass will work very well.

As for what the visit, if you want to see a bit more of Japanese culture and traditional/historic places, head over to Nikko (from Tokyo) and Nara from Kyoto - both work great as a day trip.

As for wedding gifts or gifts in general to Japanese people, bring something from your own country. This can be sweets but also something more fancy. While it may feel normal for you, it may be exquisite in Japan.
